Services·Lighting Installation Dubai

Lighting installation company in Dubai: facade, architectural, event and festive.

Redfox Contracting installs facade, architectural, event and festive lighting for malls, hotels, developers, destinations and agencies in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and across the UAE, with projects in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. One team handles the fixing, rigging, access, power, testing, maintenance and removal.

01·Short Answer

A lighting installer that also rigs and powers.

Redfox Contracting is a Dubai technical contracting company, founded in 2003, that installs lighting on and in live buildings and destinations. We work for malls, hotels, developers, destinations, designers and event agencies, as the contractor that turns a lighting design into a safe, working installation.

Lighting installation is rarely only about the fittings. The fixing method, the access at height, the power supply, the weather and the approvals all decide whether a scheme switches on safely and on time. Redfox plans and delivers all of them as one team, then maintains and removes the installation when needed.

02·What We Install

Four kinds of lighting work.

Facade lighting

Permanent and seasonal lighting on the outside of malls, hotels and buildings: linear and outline lighting, feature lighting, ribbons and character features on a live facade.

Architectural and decorative lighting

Trees, palms, landscapes, streets, entrances and public spaces, permanent or temporary, built for heat, dust and maintenance access.

Event lighting installation

Arches, sculptures, overhead runs and atrium features for events and activations, rigged, powered and tested. For full sound, video and lighting installs, see AVL installation.

We also install feature pieces such as chandeliers and suspended lighting above atriums, using the same ceiling and atrium rigging crew.

03·Technical Specifics

Built for UAE conditions.

  • IP ratings. Heat, humidity, dust, sand and irrigation spray are hard on outdoor lighting. Outdoor fittings, connectors and junction boxes are selected for the location, typically IP65 or higher for exposed outdoor positions, and higher ratings such as IP67 or IP68 for in-ground or water-adjacent positions. IP-rated junction boxes and weatherproof connections are standard on our outdoor work.
  • Power and cabling. Power distribution, armoured and protected cable runs, electrical protection, then testing and commissioning before switch-on. See electrical works and temporary power.
  • Fixing and structure. Brackets, frames, base plates, anchors and custom fixing solutions, planned so that fixings do not damage the facade or finishes.
  • Rigging and access. Suspended lighting is hung from approved points with rigging plans and load calculations. Access is by MEWPs, spider lifts, scaffolding or other specialist access, as the site allows.
  • Control. Timers, switching and control cabling agreed with the designer, so the scheme runs to the right schedule.
04·Approvals and Permits

Approvals, permits and paperwork.

Which approvals apply depends on the site, whether the lighting is permanent or temporary, and who owns the building or space. In Dubai these commonly include:

  • Landlord, mall or master community approval. Most sites need the owner or operator to approve the design, the fixing method and the work schedule, often with a no objection certificate, contractor registration and work permits for the crew.
  • DEWA requirements for electrical works. Permanent lighting that is connected to a building supply in Dubai, or that changes it, normally goes through the building’s electrical consultant or contractor and DEWA processes. Temporary lighting is usually fed from the venue’s distribution boards or a generator.
  • Dubai Municipality requirements. Structures, features in the public realm and visible additions to a building can need Dubai Municipality approval, depending on what is installed and where.
  • Dubai Civil Defence requirements. Where the work affects escape routes, fire and life safety systems or the building’s fire strategy, Civil Defence requirements apply.
  • Other emirates. In Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other emirates, the equivalent local authorities and utility companies apply.

Redfox prepares the method statements, risk assessments, drawings, load information and electrical details these submissions need, and works with your landlord, consultant or main contractor on them. Each authority and venue sets its own requirements and timescales, so the paperwork should start as early as possible. For more detail, read our guide to facade lighting cost and approvals in Dubai.

05·Night Works

Night works on live sites.

Most lighting installation in malls, hotels and busy destinations is done at night, outside trading hours, with the area below the work cordoned off. Redfox plans the access window, the loading bay slot, the route for lifts and kit, and the hand-over before opening.

  • Pre-assembly and testing off site, so the night is spent installing, not building
  • Night shifts sized to the access window, with a supervisor on every shift
  • Working-at-height controls, lifting plans and electrical testing on every job
  • Clean-down and hand-over before the venue opens
06·Maintenance

Maintenance during the run, and after.

Lighting has to keep working for the whole season or the whole year. Redfox offers maintenance for the installations it builds and for existing schemes: scheduled inspections, fault finding, replacement of lamps, LED strips and drivers, checks after storms or high winds, and call-outs.

Maintenance can be agreed for a season or as a longer maintenance contract. When a seasonal scheme ends, we dismantle, label, pack and store it for reinstatement next year.

Common Questions

Quick answers.

Which company installs facade and architectural lighting in Dubai?

Redfox Contracting is a Dubai lighting installation company, founded in 2003, that installs facade, architectural, event and festive lighting for malls, hotels, developers and destinations across the UAE, including the illuminated facade ribbon at The Galleria Mall, Abu Dhabi.

What IP rating does outdoor lighting need in the UAE?

It depends on the position. Exposed outdoor fittings, connectors and junction boxes are typically IP65 or higher because of heat, dust, humidity and irrigation spray. In-ground or water-adjacent fittings usually need higher ratings such as IP67 or IP68. The lighting designer or manufacturer confirms the rating for each fitting.

Do I need DEWA or Dubai Municipality approval for lighting works?

It depends on the site and the scope. Permanent lighting connected to a building supply normally goes through the building’s electrical consultant or contractor and DEWA processes, and structures or visible additions can need Dubai Municipality approval. Landlord or mall approval and work permits are almost always needed. Redfox prepares the technical documents for these submissions.

Can lighting be installed at night in a trading mall?

Yes. Most mall and hotel lighting installation is done at night, outside trading hours, with the work area cordoned off and handed back before opening.

Do you offer lighting maintenance contracts?

Yes. Redfox maintains the installations it builds and existing schemes, for a season or under a longer maintenance contract, including inspections, fault finding, replacement of lamps, LED strips and drivers, and call-outs.

Can you install lighting that we or our designer have supplied?

Yes. Redfox can supply and install, or install client-supplied fittings and features, including fixing, rigging, power, testing and commissioning.

Do you install lighting outside Dubai?

Yes. Redfox works in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and every emirate, and on projects in Riyadh, Jeddah and Doha.
