Guides·Exhibition Truss and Rigging

Exhibition truss and stand rigging checklist for Dubai World Trade Centre and ADNEC.

For stand builders, agencies and organisers working at Dubai World Trade Centre, ADNEC in Abu Dhabi and other UAE venues: how to plan hung truss, banners and ground-supported structures, and what to prepare before build-up.

01·Short Answer

The short answer.

Start with the venue and organiser rules, then the load information. Exhibition halls typically control who can rig from the roof, which points can be used and by when rigging requests must be submitted. Your stand design, the weight on each point and the build-up schedule all need to fit those rules.

Each venue and each show sets its own regulations, so always check the current exhibitor or contractor manual for your event. This checklist covers what is typically asked for and how Redfox can help with truss, hoists and crew.

02·Rigging Points

Hall rigging points and approved contractors.

  • Venues typically require roof or ceiling rigging points to be installed by the venue's appointed or approved rigging contractor.
  • Rigging requests usually have to be submitted through the organiser or venue before a set deadline, with drawings and loads.
  • Point positions are limited by the hall roof structure, so the design should allow some flexibility in where truss and banners hang.
  • Late changes to points on site are often restricted or charged separately, so confirm the plan early.

Redfox supplies the truss, motorised hoists and hardware and can provide a crew to build and hang the stand structure, coordinating with the venue's rigging team where the hall requires it.

03·Load Information

The load information you will need.

  • Weight of each truss section, including corners, clamps and hardware
  • Weight of each hoist and its chain
  • Lighting fixtures, LED screens, speakers, signage and banners on each truss
  • Total load per rigging point and total suspended load
  • A drawing showing point positions, truss heights and dimensions

If you are not sure how the load spreads across points, send the design and Redfox can help put the load information together.

04·Banners

Hanging banners and hung truss.

  • Hanging banners are usually fabric on a truss or aluminium frame, flown from hall points above the stand.
  • Organisers typically set height limits, set-backs from neighbouring stands and approval rules for hung structures in their stand regulations.
  • Truss for lighting over a stand is often hung on motorised chain hoists, levelled, then trimmed to height.
  • Where hanging is not allowed or points are not available, a ground-supported truss structure or goalpost can carry lighting and branding instead.
05·Timelines

Build-up and dismantle timelines.

Exhibition build-up windows are short, and rigging normally happens first, before carpets, stand walls and furniture. A typical sequence:

  • Design and load information agreed with the client
  • Rigging request and drawings submitted to the venue or organiser before their deadline
  • Truss, hoists and hardware prepared and checked in the warehouse
  • Rigging points installed, then truss assembled on the floor, dressed with lighting and lifted
  • Dismantle in reverse at the end of the show, inside the breakdown window

The submission deadline set by the venue or organiser is usually the date that matters most, so send the brief early.

06·Dry or Wet Hire

Dry hire or hire with riggers?

Dry hire suits stand builders with their own qualified crew and an approved rigging plan: you receive aluminium truss, chain hoists and hardware, and return them after the show. See truss rental in Dubai.

Hire with riggers suits tight build-ups, heavy or complex hung structures and teams who want one contractor to supply, build, lift and dismantle. For ADNEC and other Abu Dhabi venues, see truss rental in Abu Dhabi.

07·Quote Checklist

What to send for a quote.

  • Show name, venue and hall, and stand number if allocated
  • Build-up, show and dismantle dates
  • Stand design or drawings, with truss positions and heights
  • Weights to hang: lighting, screens, speakers, banners
  • Number of hoist points, if known, and whether hall points are already requested
  • Hung truss, ground-supported truss or both
  • Dry hire or with Redfox riggers
  • Any organiser or venue paperwork you need from your rigging supplier

Attach the design, drawings or a BOQ to the quote form below, or send them on WhatsApp.

08·Proof

Riggers who also install.

Redfox is a Dubai technical contracting company founded in 2003. The same truss, hoists and crew are used on our own rigging work, including a suspended structure of about 1,500 kg rigged above the central atrium of The Galleria Mall in Abu Dhabi in two days. Read the case study.

We do the jobs others called not possible, and we help you plan spans, points and loads before build-up starts.

Common Questions

Quick answers.

Can any contractor rig from the roof at Dubai World Trade Centre or ADNEC?

Venues typically require roof rigging points to be installed by their appointed or approved rigging contractor, with requests submitted through the organiser or venue before a deadline. Always check the current manual for your show.

What load information do exhibition venues ask for?

Usually the weight on each rigging point, the total suspended load, the weights of truss, hoists, lighting, screens and banners, and a drawing showing point positions and heights.

Can I rent exhibition truss without riggers?

Yes. Redfox offers dry hire of truss, chain hoists and hardware for your own qualified crew, or hire with Redfox riggers who build, lift and dismantle.

What if my stand cannot hang anything from the hall roof?

A ground-supported truss structure or goalpost can carry lighting, screens and branding without hall rigging points, subject to the stand height rules for your show.

Does Redfox supply exhibition truss in Abu Dhabi?

Yes. Redfox delivers truss, hoists and crew to ADNEC and other venues in Abu Dhabi, as well as across Dubai, Sharjah and the rest of the UAE.
